Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, dEMOTIONAL is a dynamic force in the modern metal scene, known for their powerful blend of melodic death metal, metalcore, and contemporary metal influences. Formed in 2009, the band has spent over a decade refining their sound—the Swedish sound.

Their debut album State: In Denial (2013) set the tone, drawing listeners in with its explosive energy and melodic sensibility. The album landed them a record deal with Dead End Exit Records, and was a bold statement that paved the way for future growth, catching the attention of metal fans and industry figures alike.

In 2015, dEMOTIONAL followed up with Tarassis, an album that showcased a more refined and expansive sound. It was a step forward in both their songwriting and their overall vision, pushing boundaries while remaining grounded in their signature style. This period saw the band grow their fan base and earn spots on the road with major acts, solidifying their reputation as one of the most exciting and hard-working young bands in the Swedish metal scene.

Their 2017 album Discovery, produced by Pontus Hjelm (Dead by April), marked another milestone in their evolution, delivering some of the most powerful and emotionally charged material to date. It was clear that dEMOTIONAL wasn’t just playing music—they were sharing a deeply personal journey with their listeners, taking them through stories of struggle, triumph, and introspection.

Fast forward to 2021, and dEMOTIONAL released Scandinavian Aftermath, an album that proved the band was only just getting started. A mix of intricate metalcore riffs and melodic flourishes, Scandinavian Aftermath captured the essence of their identity: heavy, emotional, and unapologetically real. With its re-release in 2023 under AFM Records, the band expanded their reach globally, gaining millions of streams on platforms like Spotify and further cementing their place in the metal world.

New Horizons is the fifth album from dEMOTIONAL and was released in November 2025.
